The Barkeep on the Borderlands team is firing on all cylinders. When I last wrote to you, the first drafts of pubs from guest writers were imminent. One month later, they are all in and in various states of editing (with at least one nearly complete!). This has meant a lot of effort from our talented team of editors, but it has been a delight to watch these pubs come together.
And it is not just the writers and editors that are keeping busy; the artists remain hard at work. For instance, the piece above from TorTheVic will grace the spread on drinking rules. As they must be because this zine is chock full of illustrations: I'm estimating it may have as many as 100 pieces of art jammed in its 60 pages! So I'm also making an effort at getting more artists involved (as if 20+ people working on this project weren't enough) so we can try to hit our ambitious deadlines. For instance, I recently reached out to Keny Widjaja, who has previously done illustrations for Freebooters on the Frontier, and he is already knocking it out of the park, as you can see below.
For some further reading, I have consolidated the experience gained by writing so many encounters for my pubs (and feedback on those encounters from editors) into a helpful bit of advice for game masters and adventure writers on making engaging encounters.
Cheers!
